TEI Managing Director Mahmut Faruk Akşit said there was a lot of interest in the festival and they were having trouble moving.
Expressing the gratifying interest of the public, Aksit stated that they attended the event with a new presentation and exhibited the TEI TF6000 turbofan engine. Akşit said: “We can say that a turbofan engine with 6000 pounds of thrust produces about 6000 hp. We showed it for the first time at TEKNOFEST in Samsun.” said.

Emphasizing that they have been working on the engine for more than two years, Akşit said: “The design is ready and it is in the production phase. Since the prototype of such a large engine is being produced for the first time, it may take longer than a year, but our goal is to complete production in the first months of next year and start the engine in the first quarter,” he said.
THE MOST POWERFUL ENGINE MADE IN TURKEY
Noting that the TF6000 is the largest engine designed and developed in Turkey, Akşit said his work in the jet group started with the TJ90 engine, followed by the TJ300, which broke the world record in its class. Akşit said:
“We made the leap from the TJ300 to this engine. We incrementally increase technology as we make the leap. By the way, the helicopter engine is also a jet engine. With our TS1400 engine, which we developed for Gökbey, we have covered significant distances and achieved technologies. We developed the TF6000 by applying it to the engine. This is our fair model but its design and details are finalized and it is currently in production. I hope the next step will be the engine of the National Combat aircraft. In other words, by climbing the steps of the ladder as quickly as possible, we have the largest and most modern engine. We try to reach you as soon as possible.”

In providing information about the platforms on which the TF6000 can be used, Aksit made the following assessment:
“Actually, this is a technology development engine. Of course, a built engine is not produced for nothing. We have specifically selected the power class of this engine, it can fit. In addition, our fast national attack boats are coming. It’s strong enough to hold a gunboat. We have negotiations with BOTAŞ. We signed a protocol. Engines from aircraft engines are used to pump in natural gas at very high power natural gas lines. We also plan to produce our national natural gas compressors. In the long term, we want to benefit from a derivative of this engine to generate electricity. “This may meet the needs of our army. Eventual production will increase the power of helicopters like Atak-2 by attaching engine turbines to the back of the core of this engine. I think we can get 3500 to 4000 horsepower out of the core of this engine for a helicopter out.”
LOCAL HELICOPTER ENGINE PREPARE MANE FLIGHT
When asked about the final stage of the TS1400 engine that will power the Gökbey helicopter, TEI Director General Akşit replied:
“Since the project started in 2017, according to the project calendar, we still have a few years ahead of us. Unfortunately it comes later as it was launched after the helicopter. We try to do it as soon as possible. Although we have time in the project calendar, our President of Defense Industry at Azerbaijan TEKNOFEST pressed me and he took the floor at the end of this year: We delivered the prototype, but it was not for flying, but for integration studies, in our trials it could easily generate 1570 hp . It has reached serious maturity. I hope to deliver our first engines for manned flight in Gökbey before the end of this year. We plan.”
